Snowbasin, Utah

Travel to Snowbasin, Utah

The drive time and distance to Snowbasin, Utah is about the same for me as driving to Sun Valley, Idaho. If you live in the Western U.S., you might consider driving to Snowbasin. It’s within a day’s drive of several major cities, including Boise, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, and Denver. The resort is located off Interstate 84, with good road conditions year-round.

The Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is a major hub for Delta Air Lines, so you will find a lot of flights to and from Delta’s destinations. Most major airlines offer flights to Salt Lake City from across the U.S. as well. Once you arrive at SLC, you can rent a car or take a shuttle service to Snowbasin.

Another option is to take Amtrak. Amtrak offers service to several locations in Utah, including Ogden and Salt Lake City. From there, you can rent a car or use a local transportation service to get to Snowbasin. The Amtrak California Zephyr line stops in Salt Lake City and runs daily between Chicago and the Bay Area, passing through beautiful parts of the country including the Rocky Mountains and the Sierra Nevadas.

Once you are in Salt Lake City or Ogden, there are several shuttle services that provide transportation to Snowbasin. These include companies like Canyon Transportation and AAA Airport Transportation.

Uber and Lyft also operate in the Salt Lake City area, and you can use these services to get from the city or the airport to Snowbasin.

Snowbasin Lodging

The unique thing about Snowbasin Resort is there is no on-site lodging at all. Everyone has to drive to the resort. The closest town is Huntsville which is 10 miles away. AIRBNBs are available in Huntsville but there are no Hotels.

This is where I stayed during my 2024 visit to Snowbasin resort. Super friendly and helpful staff, along with a very quiet and comfortable, reasonably priced room equaled total satisfaction! I will stay here again for sure.

This is one of the closest Hotels to Snowbasin Resort at just 16 miles. It’s in South Ogden close to Uintah. I’ve stayed here before and it was nice. I will probably stay here again.

Here’s a place I’d like to stay! Full breakfast, Spa, In Room Jacuzzi, all at such a beautiful location – looks like fun to me!

One of the great things about snow skiing in Utah along with the light & fluffy snow is the vast number of lodging options to choose from. The info on Snowbasin’s Lodging web page is a great resource I highly recommend! And there is always Google of course.
